There was a question why we picked the name Caleb. Caleb in the Old Testament was one of the twelves spies sent to survey Caanan before they conquested the Promised Land. Caleb and Joshua were the only two who gave positive reports based on their faith in God. (Numbers 13:17-14:10)
Our Caleb was also a spy to the Promised Land flowing with milk and honey because he went with us to the Holy Land trip (in Daisy’s womb, of course) in Christmas ’05, hence his name. The timing of Daisy’s pregnancy and the trip was just right so that Caleb was stable enough to travel with Daisy and still not making mom tired easily. Every time we talked about that, we praise God for His perfect timing. Our prayers is that our Caleb will be faithful and mighty for the Lord, just as the Caleb for whom he is named.
"But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it." Numbers 14:24 NASB (see also Numbers 32:11-12; Deuteronomy 1:36; Joshua 14:9, 14)
Regarding his Chinese name, it is 蘇基立. We hope that it will remind him to 靠著基督站立得穩. (Gal 5:1, Phil 4:1)
The translation 基立 works great for my mom, who is here to help out, because 基立 pronounces almost the same as the English name Caleb.
